Laila Kazmi-Barsotti is a freelance writer, founder of Jazbah.org, and currently a J.D. candidate at the Seattle University School of Law. She was born in Karachi, Pakistan and spent her childhood in both Pakistan and Bahrain before moving with her family to the United States. After completing a B.S. degree, she worked in the Information Technology field as a Systems Engineer. With an interest in technology and a passion for writing, Laila created the Web-based project, Jazbah.org, highlighting the achievements of women of Pakistani origin. Laila has worked as part-time faculty member at the Art Institute of Seattle and an editor for the cultural print magazine, Chowrangi. Her articles have appeared in The Seattle Times, Dawn, Pakistan Link, Colors NW Magazine, Chowrangi, as well as various Internet publications.

In 2004, Laila was a festival coordinator for the month-long 'Sadaa: Voices of Women Arts Festival' in Seattle featuring visual art, literature, and films by women of Muslim origin. Laila has also curated short films for Seattle's Independent South Asian Film Festival and poetry readings for the 2005 Seattle Poetry Festival at the Hugo House.
